1. How can I contact customer support?

2. What is stock photography?

Stock photography is existing photography that can be used for print and web ads, in books and magazines, in news, on websites, in brochures and packaging, and in a large number of custom applications, according to the licensing terms to which the photographer and buyer have agreed. Using an image that already exists saves the purchaser the time and expense of a custom photo shoot.

3. What is Royality-free?

Royalty-Free Digital Stock Photography is a concept where user of the images does not have to pay any royalty for repeated use of the images. The buyer does not own the copyright of the images but have purchased the rights to use the images legally without additional fees or interruption from the retailer. These images cannot be sold or transferred but it offers a wide range of benefits; mainly lower pricing and convenience.

4. What browsers are compatible with this website?

Shutterstock has been tested with Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox For best results, we recommend using Internet Explorer.

5. What is a Lightbox?

A Lightbox is used to store a group of images that you would like to eventually download or share with a colleague. You can place images into a Lightbox, and then later download the images, or send the Lightbox link to a friend/colleague for them to review. You are not obligated to download images in your lightbox, and its entirely up to you how many lightboxes you have, or if you use the images later.

6. What is the Most Popular search?

When you order your search results by "Most Popular", currently the default setting, the order reflects photos that have the highest number of downloads after adjusting for how long they have been available to subscribers. However, we use an adjustment factor to prevent a photo that has had an immediate 5 or 10 downloads in the first day from showing up in the search results. We also offer “New Photos” and “Random” as search result options.

7. What is your refund policy?

Since you may view our actual images and the image size information upfront, we regret that we cannot provide refunds.

8. What if I forgot my username or password?

No problem. Just visit the Forgot your password?  link beneath the Subscriber Login to have your username and password sent to your email address.

9. How do you protect my credit card information?

All of your information is stored in a protected database on a secure server in a secure location.

10. Why arent the files 300DPI?

The term DPI alone doesnt make any sense on screen. An image can be 72DPI, 300DPI or any DPI at the same time. What matters is the SIZE of an image at a certain DPI, because if you change the DPI, the printing size will change too. Usually 300DPI is used in print, so what you need to know is the printing size at 300DPI, which is printed under the image preview.

Dont worry if Photoshop says 72DPI, it doesnt matter. You can change the resolution at Image Size and you will instantly see the proper printing size too.

11. Does the image I download have a watermark on it?

Images downloaded with a purchased subscription will not be watermarked.

12. What is a TIFF?

A TIFF is an uncompressed file format that is available only to our Enhanced License subscribers. Our TIFF files are converted from the same JPEGs that are available under the Standard License. We use the JPEG format to store images in our database.

13. What sizes do your photos come in?

They can be downloaded in four different sizes.Our images come in Small, Medium, Large, and Original. Each image has size information detailed .

14. How does the purchase process look like?

You can purchase images online with a credit card. After purchase you will have access to the images you bought by logging in to your account on photodiartis.com

15. How may I use PhotoDiArtis images?

You may use our royalty-free images for: web pages and other electronic distribution systems, broadcasts, advertising and promotional materials, publications, products- including those intended for sale, , layouts, and other materials for test or sample use.

16. What are the usage restrictions for Photodiartis images?

You may NOT: use our content as a service mark or trademark, use any photo of a person in connection with a potentially controversial subject unless you include a statement indicating that the person is a model and is used only for illustrative purposes, use our content for pornographic materials.


FAQ for sellers

1. Why did you reject my images?

In most cases images get rejected because they are either too blurry or too noisy, or they are good qualitywise but our customers would not be interested in such image. Please make sure you read our Photo upload rules and before uploading your images. You can also check our most popular files to see what kind of images sell well.

2. What is a model release?

A model release is a signed legal document from your subjects giving you permission to use and sell their photos. Dont be mistaken, this is not just for professional models, anyone or anything that is the subject of a photograph is considered to be a "model".

3. How long does it take to get my photos approved?

Usually it takes a up to a week, depending on the amount of images in the queue. We have to go through them carefully to ensure high quality.

4. Whats the fastest way to upload my work?

The fastest and most convenient way to upload your work is through our FTP server.

5. How do I get paid?

We use two well known money transfer services, Paypal and Moneybookers, or you can request a check by mail.

6. How long does it take to get my earnings?

Electronic payment requests are usually processed within 7 workdays.

7. I have trouble with the FTP.

If you cannot connect to our FTP server, please make sure that

- your login / password are correct (watch the case)

-the host is photodiartis.com and not www.photodiartis.com

- the connection mode is set to PASSIVE

- you have no firewall enabled
